Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI)

Shri Challa Sreenivasulu Setty took charge as the Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI) on 28 August 2024. He has been a part of the Bank’s Central Board since January 2020, serving earlier as Managing Director. Mr. Setty joined SBI in 1988 as a Probationary Officer and has over 37 years of experience in the banking sector. During his long career, he has handled several important portfolios, including Corporate Banking, Retail Banking, International Banking, Stressed Assets Management, Global Markets, and Technology

Dr. P. C. Saboo had joined State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer in 1994. During his 30 years stint in the Bank, he worked in various assignments spanning from Operations, Retail Advances, Risk Management, Faculty at Bank’s apex training institute to foreign trade. He is also having rich experience in handling forex operations, as he worked as SBI’s country head at Bangladesh.

He also headed Bank’s Marketing and Communications Department. He had also headed Bank’s Financial Inclusion Department at Corporate Centre, Mumbai, and responsible for providing affordable banking solutions to financially excluded people spread in every nook and corner of the country.

Shri Rama Mohan Rao took over as the Managing Director (Retail Business & Operations), State Bank of India on 1st December 2025. As a MD (RB&O), he oversees retail banking business of SBI, which serves more than 530 million customers in India’s largest bank.

Prior to this Mr. Amara was MD responsible for International Banking, Global Markets and Technology wings in SBI. He also worked as Group Chief Risk Officer in the bank, where he strived to strengthen the enterprise-wide risk management framework.

As MD & CEO of SBI Card, a pureplay credit card company, for two and a half years, he steered the company successfully and improved its market position. He amassed international experience while handling key assignments in Singapore and the US.

An engineering graduate, Mr. Amara also holds recognized financial credentials – CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and FRM (Financial Risk Manager).

Shri Satish Rao serves as the Deputy Managing Director (Information Technology) at the State Bank of India (SBI), a position he assumed in February 2025. Prior to this, he was Deputy Managing Director (Officer on Special Duty) at SBI and has also served as the Chief General Manager of Information Technology (Core and Special Projects).

Mr. Rao joined the State Bank of India in 1991 as a Probationary Officer and has since gained extensive experience across various domains of banking. Over the years, he has held several important leadership roles, including General Manager and Chief Data Management Officer, as well as Deputy General Manager (Business and Operations) at Siliguri. He is widely recognized for his deep expertise in technology transformation, data-driven banking, and his significant contributions to SBI’s digital initiatives and operational efficiency.

Ms. Sukhvinder Kaur took charge as the Deputy Managing Director (Operations Channel Management) at the State Bank of India (SBI) in May 2026. Before this role,
she served as Chief General Manager – Retail Loans Business Unit at the State Bank of India (SBI), overseeing a portfolio of ₹ 8.00 trillion in assets under management. In
this role, she is responsible for:

1. Strategic Positioning – Establishing SBI as the leader in Retail Loans through bold and innovative initiatives.
2. Growth Planning – Identifying and capitalizing on opportunities for sustainable expansion in the Retail Loans segment.
3. Product Innovation – Designing, developing, and managing new products and services tailored to retail loan customers.
4. Capability Development – Driving skill upgradation in credit appraisal, supervision, loan monitoring, and NPA management.
5. Market Intelligence -Tracking competition and market trends to refine strategies and enhance customer offerings.
With over 34 years of distinguished banking experience, Ms. Kaur has held leadership roles across diverse domains including Operations, Credit, and Marketing. She has served on two international assignments at SBI Frankfurt and SBI California, and has led key regions and business units, including Mandi Region (Himachal), Maharashtra
Network, and Wealth & Premier Banking.

An Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers, Ms. Kaur brings a blend of globalexposure, strategic foresight, and operational excellence to her leadership role at SBI.
